To celebrate the introduction of the E-Class Cabriolet, customers enjoyed a very special Champagne and Seafood tasting evening at our Toorak showroom.
Mercedes-Benz Chief Driving Instructor, Peter Hackett, revealed the E-Class Cabriolet, showcasing the new safety, technology and design innovations.
Guests were treated to freshly shucked oysters, including Moulting Bay with an elderflower and lime jelly, Barilla Bay with mirin and green chilli nam jim, Hervey Bay scallops with apple, shiso and pink grapefruit followed by Tetsuya smoked trout with snow peas, cauliflower puree and goats curd. Bubbles were plenty with the support of ‘Maison de gon de spri’, a fantastic array of wine from the French regions of Burgundy, Rhone and Syrah which were enjoyed by all.

With the open top of a convertible and the comfort of a sedan, it’s where summer meets winter. Being told ‘it can’t be done’ often drives innovative thinking. With the all new E-Class Cabriolet, it led to the AIRCAP® electric wind deflector with rear draught-stop. Plus the comforting AIRSCARF®* neck-level heating system built into the front seats.
The all new E-Class Cabriolet also includes, THERMATIC climate control, COMAND APS, Intelligent light system and roof operation at up to 40km/h.
Economical, powerful and low in emissions: that's the newly developed 4-cylinder petrol engine with direct injection in the E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY. This engine is impressive with the direct responsiveness and smoothness of operation at all engine speeds.
The E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY has an engine output of 150 kW and maximum torque of 310 Nm. The low consumption figures for this new engine is due in part to the relatively small displacement of 1.8 litres and turbocharger, as well as the improved CGI direct injection. By reducing the weight and therefore also the internal friction losses, the engine is particularly economical and meets the strict thresholds for consumption and emissions.
Modern V6 technology is the basis of the E 350. The petrol engine has a rated torque of 350 Nm at 2400-5000rpm, delivers 200 kW (272 hp) at 6000rpm. The 6-cylinder engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The E 500 is the most powerful engine for the new E-Class Cabriolet. The V8 engine has an output of 285 kW and develops a maximum torque rating of 530 Nm in the range between 2800 and 4800 rpm. Just 5.3 seconds are all this engine needs to accelerate the Cabriolet from 0 to 100 km/h –a peak value.
